The Construction Process

The Landscape Construction Process includes several tedious steps to ensure a project that is not only visually appealing, but is also built to last with the highest standards of quality. Our ICPI-certified team prioritizes durability and quality, offering a 2-year warranty.

Site Preparation
Our experts begin by evaluating and marking the designated area for interlock installation, ensuring precision and alignment with your vision. This includes any utility locates such as gas, electricity, water and telecommunications.
Excavation
Digging 8 to 12 inches deep, we excavate and haul away soil to allow for base installation, laying the groundwork for a stable foundation. Following excavation, the undisturbed soil is heavily compacted and amended if necessary to increase it’s load bearing capacity.
Fabric Installation
Woven geotextile fabric is installed between the undisturbed soil and gravel base to stabilize the base material and separate it from the underlying soil or aggregate. This prevents shifting, settling, and migration of fines, ensuring a more durable and even surface over time. Additionally, the geotextile fabric helps to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement, reducing the risk of cracks or unevenness in the paver surface.
Base Preparation
By utilizing an open-graded base with uniform particle sizes and significant void space, the installation achieves optimal drainage properties, which are critical for preventing water accumulation and maintaining the integrity of the paved surface over its lifespan. 6 to 8 inches of 3/4 clear gravel is carefully levelled and spread out across the prepared area following a minimum slope of 1% to 2%, and then compacted using specialized equipment, such as a vibrating plate compactor.
Laying Pavers
In preparation for laying pavers, a final bedding layer consisting of approx. 1.5 inches of 1/4 chip crushed limestone or HPB (High-Performance Bedding) is screeded following a minimum slope of 1% to 2%. Using the selected pavers, we arrange the interlocking in your desired pattern, ensuring a seamless and visually appealing layout. Our attention to detail guarantees that each interlocking piece fits snugly together, creating a durable and aesthetically pleasing surface for your outdoor space.
Edge Restraints
Installing edge restraints is crucial for securing the interlocking pavers in place, preventing shifting and maintaining the structural integrity of the paved surface. The process involves installing a concrete edge restraint along the perimeter of the paved area, by pouring and shaping the concrete to create a sturdy border.
Polymeric Jointing Sand
The installation of polymeric jointing sand involves several key steps to ensure effective bonding and stabilization between the pavers. The polymeric jointing sand is spread evenly over the surface of the pavers, followed by compaction of the polymeric sand into the joints using a rolling vibrating compactor to ensure that the sand settles tightly and evenly between the pavers. After sweeping any excess polymeric sand from the surface of the pavers, the sand is activated to ensure a durable bond, allowing the polymer binders to fully cure within 24 to 48 hours.
Backfill
Backfilling around the overexcavated areas of the finished paver surface involves carefully replenishing the excavated space with enriched topsoil and grass seed to promote healthy grass growth. The top soil is evenly spread and gently compacted to create a smooth surface.
Cleanup & Inspection
The final cleanup involves debris removal, followed by power washing to restore cleanliness and enhance the appearance of the entire property, including the roadway. This meticulous process ensures a pristine finish and lasting satisfaction with the completed project. A final inspection is then completed to ensure top-quality standards are met before project completion.
